Those familiar with the terminology of drilling rig must know what a pulsation dampener is, but for others it might sound confusing. A pulsation dampener is actually a vessel, which is filled with gas, mostly Nitrogen. The main function of a pulsation dampener is to isolate the gas from the circuit liquid so as to avoid the loss of gas. The material used to separate the fluids is generally made of Nitrile and (NBR) and Hydrogenated Nitrile (HNBR). There are several other functions of a pulsation dampener besides from separating gas from fluid. Like for example, the extreme pressure that is discharged on the side of the positive displacement pumps can cause pulsations and fatigue failures that can cause failure of pipe supports, downstream pipe and other equipment. A pulsation dampener may also need to reduce the load on the main pump. It is also used for preventing damage of the pipe that can be caused due to vibration.
At Integrated Equipment, we manufacture drilling pulsation dampeners which have single piece construction and no girth welds. The inside surface is machined for smooth diaphragm movement. These diaphragms can be replaced without removing the unit from line. We also provide field replaceable top and plates so as to reduce downtime. Some of the other features provided by Integrated Equipment’s pulsation dampener would be the diaphragm equipped with stabilizer to eliminate possible folding and entrapment of fluids resulting in increased diaphragm life. We manufacture these models; IE-10-3000, IE-10-5000, IE-20-3000, IE-20-5000 and IE-20-7500.
Production pulsation dampeners are also manufactured by Integrated Equipment, which are compact in design, and require no external support structure. To keep the fluid in the diaphragm, we have isolated the body cavity. Nitrile (NBR) and Hydrogenated Nitrile (HNBR) diaphragms are standard. We have production pulsation dampeners from size range 1 gallon to 20 gallons. The charging valve assembly is fully enclosed and protected. All rubber components supplied with Integrated Equipment pulsation dampeners as original equipment and / or furnished as replacement parts are under Integrated Equipment’s design and quality control and carry Integrated Equipment’s standard manufacturer’s warranty.
It is very important to select the right type of pulsation dampener, only the manufacturer who has the thorough knowledge of the bits and parts of a pulsation dampener, like Integrated Equipment can provide the best service in the industry. All products manufactured here at Integrated Equipment are accredited per ISO 9001. Another specialty of pulsation dampeners produced by Integrated Equipment is that, the bodies for both, drilling pulsation dampener and production dampener are protected by heavy duty impact and resistant protective covers. Elastomer Products – Pipe Wipers

There is a huge range of elastomer products that are put to use in different industries. Like for example, in the automobile industry, elastomer products like ball joints and anti-vibration mounts are used. Annular blowout preventer packing unit, annular blowout seal kits, ram blowout spare parts, pipe wipers, wiper cutter assembly, drill pipe protector, tong and elevator straps and aero union tubes are some of the Elastomer products used in the oil drilling industry.
To begin with, pipe wiper is not a pipe or has nothing to do with a pipe. It is in fact a device shaped like disk, which is generally made of rubber and has a hole in the center. The function of a pipe wiper is quite easy to understand. A pipe wiper is used for getting rid of oil or any other liquid, when the fluid is being extracted from the wellbore. A pipe wiper is generally used during the regular maintenance repair process.
Different types of rubber are used to make pipe wipers. Drill pipe wiper has to be made of specially designed rubber, as it has to have the capacity to sustain the tremendous pressure, abrasion and tearing. The kind of rubber to be used depends on the purpose of the pipe wiper. At Integrated Equipment, we use proprietary engineered rubber compound to make pipe wipers. The material we use for making the pipe wipers is resistant to both oil-based drilling and water. The wear and tear properties of this compound, makes it resistant to tearing, abrasion and cutting.
The three types of pipe wipers that are manufactured by Integrated Equipment are regular dual wipers, type F wipers and split dual wipers. The regular dual wipers are quite easy to install. They provide flexible and double wiping action on drill strings where oversize tool joint and pipe protectors are used. We make use of steel reinforcing rings to prevent collapse.
Split dual wipers manufactured by us are used on the drills which have a solid master bushing. Our split dual wipers are installed in tear-proof sloths which can easily cut through the outer edge of the wiper, so that it becomes easy to install. The type F wipers are designed for drilling and workover rigs which do not have much room below the master bushing.
All types of pipe wipers manufactured by Integrated Equipment are resistant to water and oil-based mud, so you don’t have to worry about replacing the Pipe wipers for a long time. Integrated Equipment not only manufactures oil drilling equipment, it also provides quality after-service including emergency servicing. Under field services we also do onsite inspections and re-certifications. Every kind of technical need that can be needed in case of any of Integrated Equipment’s products will be provided at any hour.

Wellhead equipment – Backbone of Oil Extraction Industry

Expanding gate valves

Wellhead is the equipment that is mainly used to connect casing to an oil pipeline. Casing strings are a type of oil field pipe. Wellhead equipment provides pressure seals to these pipes. There are several other functions of wellhead equipment such as providing tubing suspension, giving space for tubing, acting as an attachment for blowout preventers and so on. These equipment are generally installed during the first phase. However, it functions even after the wellbore is shut down. As aforementioned, wellhead equipment consists of various components.
Some of the Components of Wellhead Equipment:
  1. Tubing Heads and Spools: Tubing is nothing but a pipe that is used for oil to pass. Unlike casing, it can be removed if required. Tubing spool is that component that is used to hang tubing and also to seal the circular space between the pipe and casing. Integrated Equipment designs standard range of tubing seals in sizes ranging from 9-11 inches.
  2. Casing and Tubing Hanger: In lay man’s term, casing hanger is that device which is used to suspend casing from the casing head. Similarly, tubing hanger is the component used to hang tubing from tubing head. There are two main types of casing hangers, i.e. Automatic Casing Hanger (PCHA) and Unitised Casing Hanger (PCHU). Various specifications are available for both. At Integrated Equipment, C22 Casing Hangers are manufactured. These casing hangers can fit any C-22 and C-29 casing head and spool. TC-1W Tubing Hangers, TC-1A Tubing Hangers and TC-1A EN Tubing Hangers are the type of tube hangers designed by Integrated.
  3. Tubing Head Adapter: Tubing head adapter is installed to support the tubing and for connecting Christmas tree to the tubing head flange. B-1 Adapter, B-2 Adapter and B2P-S Adapter are some of the common types of tubing adapters. Integrated manufactures all three types, specifications vary.
  4. Expanding Gate Valve: Gate valve is one of the valves that is unlocks and gives way to oil. Some gate valves operate either completely open or completely close. Expanding valve is one of the popular models of gate valves. At Integrated Expanding gate valves ranging from 1-13/16 - 4-1/16 are manufactured.
Very few manufacturers like Integrated Equipment manufacture all these components under one roof. It is convenient to buy all components from the same manufacturer as one can approach them in case of any query or problem.
It is crucial to follow regular maintenance schedules for all wellhead equipment as ignorance can lead to unwanted disasters. Manufacturers like Integrated provide only quality equipment, putting safety as their top most priority. Scheduled maintenance, field repairs and trouble shooting are all part and parcel of their services. Also, unlike any other manufacturer, Integrated Equipment also provides emergency maintenance. So for quality equipment and services, Integrated is the place.

Save big bucks by investing in Drill pipe protectors

         Drill Pipe Protector
A drill pipe is a 30-33 feet long and sturdy steel pipe. The length, height and weight of a drill might differ, however in most cases the height does not exceed 33 feet. As stated above, a drill pipe is used for extracting oil from wellbores. The structure of drill pipe is hollow from within, which makes it easier to extract oil from the wellbore without getting stuck to the pipe. Threaded ends are joined to a drill pipe, which are then known as tool joints. These help connect the top drilling equipment to the bottom drilling equipment of the rig. A drilling pipe is a component of a drilling string. A drilling string consists of some other components like drill bit, drill collars and so on. If the drill pipe has to be replaced due to wear and tear or subsurface rock, the entire drilling string has to be re-surfaced and then send for repair. The drill pipe itself is quite expensive, which is why drill pipe protectors are essential.
Drill pipe protectors, also known as casing protectors and drill pipe rubbers, not only protect the drill pipe from wear and tear, but also cause minimal vibrations in the entire drill string. Friction is often created between drill pipe and casing, a drill pipe protector helps reduce this friction, thus increasing the durability of the drill pipe. Drill pipe protectors save drilling time and money. As drill pipe protector is an elastomer product, the use of quality rubber is important. In fact, drill pipes are made of rubber sleeves and are enclosed in steel cages. Drill pipe protectors that are made of rubber have quite a low friction coefficient. A good drill pipe protector is the one that can sustain high temperatures, has low oil-absorption quality and is resistant to chemicals.
Various manufactures of oil drilling equipment manufacture their versions of drill pipe protector, with specially added features. At Integrated Equipment we manufacture Drill pipe protectors which are easy to install. Smooth style drill pipe protector and fluted style drill pipe are the two types manufactured by us.
As aforementioned, drilling pipes are quite expensive, it is therefore necessary to well-maintain these equipment by following regular maintenance schedules, making sure that casing I.D hasn’t worn out from drill string as the drill pipes are susceptible to damage; and using quality drill pipe protectors. At Integrated Equipment we not only provide quality products but also assist you with regular and emergency maintenance. All the E Ram bop lastomer products manufactured by Integrated Equipment are accredited as per ISO 9001, and providing only quality products is our motto, so one does not have to worry about quality with Integrated Equipment’s products. We also inspect, test or recertify all our products as and when needed.

Common Types of Valves

No extraction equipment can be constructed without a valve. However, every industry has its own set of requirements. This is the reason why various types of valves are designed. Let us take a look at the various types of valves and what exactly their functions are.
The device that has control over the flow and regulation of any fluid is known as valve. The function of re-direction or/and controlling fluid is done by closing, opening or partially opening/closing the passageway. Most of the valves function this way, however there are few others that function differently, like the thermostatic re-circulating valve. Following are some of the commonly used valves in today’s industry.
Categories of Valves
They basic type of valves fall into two categories;
    • Check valves and
    • Close valves.
As the name suggests, they have only two functions, to open and close the flow of the fluid. Though it may seem like an easy task, the designs are quite complicated. This is why you have to depend on models like FC gate valves for long lasting and quality products. The list of such valves is comprised below.
Choke Valve: This type of valve is used where high pressure is required, like that in oil wellheads. The function of a choke valve is to control the flow of fluid; the flow depends on how wide the valve is opened. In oil industries, choke valves are generally made of tungsten carbide or inconel.
Gate Valve: Gate valve is used in almost every industry. As the name suggests, gate valve is closed either by a gate or a rectangular wedge. This type of valve is useful only where flow in a straight line is expected. For throttling purposes this gate valve is not the type. FC gate valve is the most common model of gate valves used now a days. Though FC is a model, wellhead equipment manufacturers design different variations of FC style gate valves. Like for example, renowned manufacturers like Integrated Equipment design FC style gate valves that are made with forged body and slab-gate.
Diaphragm Valve: Diaphragm valves, also known as membrane valves are made up of a diaphragm, ports and saddle. Diaphragm valve is used in bio-pharmaceutical companies, for the corrosive and dirty service purposes.
Knife Valve: Knife valve is often confused with FC gate valve; however both are different, as knife valve is denser than gate valve. The purpose of both valves is also different. Knife valve is used for slurry handling whereas gate valve is used for straight flow purpose.
Poppet Valve: Poppet or mushroom valve is used generally in automobile industry, in internal-combustion engines to be precise. Mushroom valve can also be used for controlling the flow of fluids like milk.
The above mentioned were some of the most common types of valves, there are many more. Whichever type of valve you use or modify, make sure to buy it from reliable manufacturers like Integrated Equipment which designs all components of Wellhead equipment ranging from FC gate valves to tubing heads and spools.

Annular-type Blowout Preventer

annular blowout preventer
A drilling rig works efficiently due to all its components. Wellhead equipment, blowout preventers, mud pump, pipe ramp etc are some of the important components of any drilling rig. Of the above mentioned components, blowout preventer is one of the fundamental components. BOP is a special type of valve which deals with extreme pressures that can lead to explorations. The sub-types of blowout preventers are used to seal the wellhead to stop the flow of fluid (oil) from the wellbore. Ram BOP and annular BOP are the two types of BOPs. The major difference between the two is between the techniques used to function. One advantage of annual blowout preventer is that an annual blowout preventer can seal various types of pipes, unlike the ram BOP.
Annular BOP was invented in 1946 by Granville Sloan Knox. It is a large valve that is installed about the ram blowout preventer and seals in the annular space between the wellbore and the pipe. This type of BOP is used for on-shore as well as off-shore operations. Though the annular blowout preventer was invented in the year 1946, a patent was awarded to Knox in 1952. The annular BOP invented by Knox, was later modified for subsea BOP stack use. One of the modified version that was rewarded a patent was designed by Ado N. Vujasinovic. This variation of the original BOP is now counted as a type of annular-type BOP known as the spherical blowout preventer.
The original type of annular blowout preventer uses a conical-faced piston for functioning. When this piston rises, the movement of the packing unit is restricted, making the piston squeeze inward towards the middle of the wellbore. It also has a rubber seal element, which helps to seal the space between drill collar, kelly or drill pipe.
Spherical blowout preventers are named so due to its shape. These blowout preventers can provide pressure for moving the pipe in and out of the hole. The spherical BOPs manufactured now a days are compact, so are able to seal any kind of drill pipe, casing and so on.
Every blowout preventer stack at least has one annular BOP. An annular blowout preventer is generally used to seal the drill stem in the hole, however, if there is no drill stem, it can close over the open hole. These are some of the common features of every annular BOP; however, most of the oil drilling equipment manufacturers have some special features for the products manufactured by them. Like at Integrated Equipment, we design annular BOPs that are strong yet simple in construction. We also use trash rings to avoid debris from dropping into the chambers during field replacement of packing rubber.
Ram and annular blowoutpreventers manufactured by us meet all the requirements of API 16A. For reliable and long-lasting oil drilling products, those are accredited per ISO 9001; Integrated Equipment is the right choice.
